The Association is aware that many of you may be experiencing some problems associated with the new building permit system in New Hanover County that was implemented on March 3 of this year. We reached out to the Planning/Inspections Director, Chris O’Keefe for an update on the overall implementation of the system and he indicated that staff is working with their vendor to offset any of the problems that have occurred.
“On March 3, New Hanover County Planning and Inspections and Development Services went live with a new building permit system called One Solution that includes a program called GovNow which allows customers to access certain data through the system. The implementation of these programs has been a very labor intensive task because we were moving from a system that was almost 20 years old. As we continue to improve how the system works we encourage everyone to utilize GovNow for making payments and scheduling inspections. In the future you will be able to use GovNow for more of the interactions that you normally have to handle in person. Thank you for your patience during this transition as we strive to serve you better.
