Are you involved with an exciting new development in the three-county area of Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender? Do you have a development that is special in its efforts to capture and preserve the natural amenities of the site for the enjoyment and appreciation of the future occupants? Are you trying to market to the type of buyer or leaseholder that will appreciate the efforts you made in stewardship and emphasis of the natural resources on the property?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then receiving recognition for your efforts in the form of a coveted award and earning the right to use our logo as a seal of approval may be of value to you.

If you are planning a new development, these criteria can be used as a guide to help you achieve this type of a development. Even if you cannot meet all the criteria, we offer a “Significant Achievement Award” for projects that have certain elements that are worthy of recognition. Or if you are just getting started on a project, we also offer a “Special Recognition” category for an approved site plan with no development on the ground. You may get some ideas that are easy to incorporate into your plans that even save you money in development costs. If you are selected as a recipient of an award, posting the sign presented to recipients of the “Outstanding Stewardship” award at your development site and using the logo in your marketing materials is a way to show your clients and customers that you have gone above and beyond in your efforts to protect the environment and that you know that it makes a difference to those who see it.
If you want to learn more about the program, please visit our website at www.stewardshipdev.org or contact your local planning department. There are planners in New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick Counties, and in the City of Wilmington Planning Offices that can answer your questions and assist you with the application. APPLICATIONS FOR 2014 ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th.
