Support Needed to Stop EPA’s Expansion of the Clean Water Act

8
Sep

On Tuesday, September 9 the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on H.R. 5078, the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protection Act.  This legislation is a key priority of the NAHB federation.  Please ask your representative to support H.R. 5078.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed expansion of the Clean Water Act (CWA) will interfere with the ability of individual landowners to use their property and negatively impacts economic growth. EPA’s proposal will dramatically increase the cost and time needed to obtain a wetlands permit prior to home construction, which will greatly impact the fledgling housing recovery.

H.R. 5078 was introduced by Rep. Steve Southerland (R-Fla.) and will prevent the EPA from regulating ditches, mudflats, prairie potholes and other water features under the CWA. Please ask your representative to vote in support of H.R. 5078.
